When I started to dabble in precision rifle shooting I used the training videos put out by Jacob Bynum of Rifles Only and Frank Galli of Snipers Hide.
The Marksmanship Fundamentals that Jacob Bynum covers are:
- Natural Point of Aim
- Sight Picture
- Breathing
- Trigger Control
- Follow Through
I memorized these five principles and they took me far. As I became better it seemed like I wasn't as consistent as I thought I should be. What took me to the next level was making sure my shoulder area was relaxed. The words of the late Ron Avery apply here: "Let recoil happen".
The attached target is a 20 shot string with the front of the rifle on a bipod and the back of the rifle on a squeeze bag. I was using a 5-round magazine so I had to load it five times during the process. The four shot that were outside of the main ragged hole were probably from me. Possibly the load.
