Yipee!! This year I drew a high altitude deer tag, unit 048. It includes 48,481,56, and 561. I have been in some of this country but just wondering if anybody else out there has done this hunt. And any advice welcomed.

Congrats on drawing that tag, that’s a good one.
Hopefully someone with direct experience in 048 chimes in but you’re definitely in for a fun (and probably leg-burning) season.

Unit 48 above treeline isn’t easy country. Mule deer hang just below ridgelines early mornings. Your legs will matter more than your optics in that kind of terrain.

I have been around Princeton and Cottonwood pass country years ago mountain goat hunting. Some of that country is a little bit accessible with an ATV. Able to get up there anyways and then go. Saw a really pretty buck up by Mirror lake several years ago.
