I got into it because I wanted a custom fit for one of my fixed blades. Then I went down a YouTube rabbit hole and suddenly I had a few hundred dollars invested in tools. I’ve made a few sheaths I’m proud of and a couple I’d rather forget. Now it’s a full blown hobby and my wife is definitely noticing.😅

Yep, that’s how it starts, one project turns into a hobby then suddenly you’re explaining tool purchases like a lawyer

That’s a dangerous rabbit hole to fall down. I started with just a twenty-dollar awl and some scrap leather, and now? I’ve got a stitching pony, a bunch of edge bevelers and a whole drawer stuffed with dye bottles. I even made a sheath for my Esee 4 that fits way better than any of the factory ones. My wife just asks why I smell like neatsfoot oil every night at dinner.

At least it’s a productive rabbit hole...better than most hobbies that start costing twice as much.

I've built a couple holsters and I tried a little trick. I saran wrapped the pistol pretty good and made some spacers for the sights then wet the leather so it was pretty pliable. Stuck it in a vac bag and vac packed it. Formed it pretty well. Just don't leave it in there very long due to the moisture. Paddle type holster, just didn't wet the base part as much and put it on a piece of 1/4" board. Didn't work too bad.

Used to skip trimming and tell myself it didn’t matter and it turns out it did. Consistency doesn’t care about shortcuts.
