I decided to actually track this instead of just assuming I was paying attention the way I thought I was, so for a week straight I logged every exit I clocked, every person who seemed even slightly off, every situation that had some kind of escalation potential and every moment I caught myself distracted enough to be genuinely vulnerable.
Reading back through it at the end of the week was a little eye opening. I was sharper than I'd given myself credit for in some areas and completely checked out in others I would have sworn I was covering. The log itself ended up being less about the data and more about the exercise, just the act of tracking it built the awareness on its own, almost as a side effect.
Has anyone ever done this?
