I picked up the Winlite stock at least 12 years ago. I even sold a M670 in this stock to a friend of my hunting buddies son who lives in AZ. That kid didn't like the stock and preferred the injection moulded stock that took two piece bottom metal. To my surprise he sent the stock back to me when he replaced it. So I have a stock and find a 670 action for $250, so of course I had to build something.
I'll refinish the stock at some point, fixing some chips and giving it a newer paint job. However, it's a great stock and the rifle weighs right at 10 lbs with my suppressor screwed on. I don't think a lighter stock would improve the handling.
It weighs 7.5 lbs bare, 8 lbs 14 oz scoped, and my suppressor weighs 14 oz DT. I'd like it to be closer to 9 lbs suppressed, but I'd have to shorten the barrel. It is muzzle heavy with the balance point ahead of the trigger guard instead of the front action screw. However, I think it'll be fairly easy to shoot off a pack or sticks.
I ordered up some 170 grain NBT and Sierra 175 grain TGK to load up soon. Right now I'm shooting that $130 a case Sig Elite 140 gr TGK to break in and get 1X brass to reload. The rifle seems to like the ammunition, and I have no complaints about my first group shot from the rifle.
