Talking about thread protectors

Do thread protectors really serve a purpose, or are they simply excess baggage?

I like the thread protectors, I hate it when I misplace them. Luckily they're cheap to buy off of Amazon or eBay. I like using my suppressors so I need threaded barrels. So I need protectors to keep me from screwing up the threads on my barrels.

They’re a bit boring, but useful. Like insurance, you don’t think about them until you need them.
