I had a friendly disagreement with a buddy about which lineup reigns supreme, and now I’m curious to see what the crowd thinks. When it comes to choosing a carry gun, what’s your usual preference?

I was at range master school in L.A. when the Ventura County Sheriff's range team arrived with their new Gen I Glocks. Every one of them lost at least one sight during the training. That combined with their ergonomics that were like holding a 2X4 was enough for me. I was using my Browning BDA-45 (a Sig P-220 rebranded) and was perfectly content. I have carried my P-239 in .357 Sig for more than 25 years and am well served by it.

When I was a kid, it was Colt vs Smith and Wesson. The Colt Official Police vs the Smith and Wesson Military and Police revolvers. The cops in my New Jersey hometown carried Colt OPs. The more things change....

While stationed in Germany 94-97, I traded my Glock 19 Gen 2 for multiple Sig Sauers (guns were a lot easier to buy then at the multiple Rod and Gun Clubs there - those days are long gone). I liked the way they shot and their quality and was not at the time fond of the feel of Glock's (to me) super-lightweight plastic frame. Today, I have a G19 with dot/light/suppressor and a Ruger RxM/RMR, having made peace with plastic. I also have one remnant Sig P220, .45 and vintage German, that is going nowhere. I have no interest in Sig's current offerings.
