Colorado's state firearm

I've come across the idea that some states choose guns to celebrate their pioneer heritage and historical roots. It made me think about Colorado, with its deep mining history, the adventurous Rocky Mountain fur trappers and the cattle ranching tradition. If CO had to pick something to represent that legacy, what do you think would be the best choice?

I'd agree with that. A famous mountain man's - Mariano Modena - Hawken used to be on loan to the Colorado Historical Society Museum. The owning family of many years family wanted to sell it and gave the museum first crack. The curator, a typical Denver woke-ista, had no interest in evil gunz, so it was sold to a wealthy collector. I saw at at a Colorado Gun Collector's show a few years ago, and got to hold it. Beautiful high-condition half-stock 50 caliber percussion Hawken.
