it’s been a long time since I’ve had the time or opportunity to sit, but I’m itching to get back out… I actually haven’t hunted the little critters here in Colorado at all and I’ve lived here off and on for 15 years or so. I’d love to get out and try out my new-to-me 6.5 CM Ruger Scout.
Without knowing much about the coyote hunting scene here in CO, I think I’d try my hand at one of the nearby SWAs. I'm in Teller County so the one up north of Hartzel comes to mind.

Anyways, enough about me… I’d love to hear from some of you, IE favorite methods, time of year, time of day etc. what works best for you. Plains vs mountain hunting ,rifle vs shotgun vs bow etc. (I love bow hunting, especially for coyotes, but it’s hard as hell.)

I've always been a rifle shooter when it comes to varmints. I'm also a plains coyote hunter, as that's where I grew up. I've never been that serious about coyotes as the fur wasn't worth the effort.

I did it more to protect our sheep when we were raising 4H lambs. Coyotes can be hard on the new lambs if not controlled. I've probably ran as many down on 4-wheelers as I've shot while out checking water in the pastures.

I wanted to get back into it, after big game seasons are over mainly Dec-Apr. The issue is I can only fair weather hunt long periods of time. I shattered my ankle back in fall of 2015, and I can't handle sitting in the bitter cold very well anymore. I've found calling on those days works the best.
